Men of Meddle

“It’s tired to be Michael Phelps today.” That was his reply to Steve Dooce of Fox ‘n Friends when asked how it felt to be him this morning. Exhaustion showed in his eyes and his body wasn’t pumped. Yet, when asked what was most important he shifted and straightened a little: “One of the coolest things is my mom and my sister being there through all the important moments.”

The interviewer softened his voice slightly and asked how it felt now that people knew everything about him. Michael P. sighed, “There is absolutely nothing I can do about it.”

Other athletes have stated that they don’t want to be a role model, what is his position? “I am honored to be a role model,” he stated.

What would he talk to Mark Spitz about? “Not sure. Like to sit and talk about anything. He supported me through the whole thing.”

He has already bought his mom a Mercedes, what will he buy her now? “Not sure.”

Of course the subject of food came up, “… excited to be able to eat whatever I want, whenever I want.”

Right now Michael Phelps “… looks forward to getting home.”
