Four and one-half years ago when I began using the computer PC World and Kim Komando quickly became my primary sources for: technology information, tips, how-to, downloads, etc.

pcworld. com is a vast, informative web site. You can delve into data on everything from Flickr, to hard drives, to Google Sketchup. In the middle of the left hand column of the home page you will find the Free Newsletters.
These are some of the most popular downloads:
Ad-Aware 2008 Free
Spybot Search and Destroy
Pop-Up Stopper Free
Quake III: Arena:
Windows Defender
There is also:
Photo! Editor
iTunes Folder
CW Shredder
Ccleaner (this is great-uncheck Yahoo toolbar when installing)

Kim Komando(her real name) started a radio station about computers in Phoenix, Arizona ten years ago. Many said she wouldn’t make it. Today she has millions of fans who listen on 460 stations across the country. She also writes two columns for Florida Today. And so much more.
komando.com is a goldmine of information dealing with cell phones, iPods, TVs, etc. Oh yea, computers too. This web site also has a buying guide. The icon for the radio station in your area is on the home page, also the Free Newsletters.
There is a section called Komando Kids that parents will absolutely love.
Check out this partial list:
Cell phones for young kids
Top 10 video games for kids
Set up kid-friendly e-mail
Save money on text messaging
Cell phone plans for children
Find homework help online
Buying a back-to-school laptop
Click on Downloads and the “download of the day” pops up – free, tested and approved.
